UltraTech acquires Wonder WallCare for ₹235 cr

The acquisition will help the company expand its putty and Value-Added Products’ production capacity

UltraTech Cement, an Aditya Birla Group company, has acquired Wonder WallCare at an enterprise value of ₹235 crore.

The acquisition will give UltraTech access to a new modern 6 lakh tonnes per annum manufacturing plant for wall putty and related products at Nathdwara in Rajasthan.

The plant is situated at the pithead of large high quality raw material reserves and in close proximity to the UltraTech’s existing putty manufacturing facilities in Rajasthan.

The Board of Directors of UltraTech Cement at its meeting held on Thursday approved the purchase of 100 per cent equity of Wonder WallCare at an enterprise value not exceeding ₹235 crore, said the company.

The country’s largest cement manufacturer UltraTech executed a Share Purchase Agreement with the existing shareholders of Wonder WallCare. The deal is expected to close in the next 90 days, it added.

Largest single-location manufacturing site

Constructed in 2022-23, Wonder WallCare’s plant is one of the largest single-location putty manufacturing sites in India, with a capability to ramp up its capacities in future.

The acquisition will help the company expand its putty and Value-Added Products’ production capacity, in the highly competitive and fragmented putty manufacturing market in India.

With the rapid pace of urbanisation and growing real estate construction in India, the acquisition aligns well with the strategy to support high quality real estate and contribute to infrastructure, manufacturing and economic growth, said the company.

Currently, UltraTech Cement has a wall care putty capacity of 13 million tonnes per year with two Birla White Wall Care Putty plants in Rajasthan and one in Madhya Pradesh.
