EaseMyTrip denies any link with Mahadev betting app case
Online travel booking platform EaseMyTrip on Thursday accepted that their Gurugram office was among the 50 locations searched by Enforcement Directorate (ED) a day before but denied any association with Mahadev betting app case.
The ED officials on conditionof anonymity had stated that EaseMyTrip co-founder Nishant Pitti’s premises was covered in the multiple raids carried out to on Wednesday to probe money laundering in the Mahadev betting app case.
However, a spokesperson of the company stated that, “As per information available in the public domain, the ED conducted searches at over 50 locations of various persons/corporates. Amongst them, one was the EaseMyTrip premises.”
“While EaseMyTrip has no direct or indirect association with the Mahadev betting app or any other betting platform, we remain fully committed to cooperating with the authorities throughout the course of the investigation,” the spokesperson clarified.
Agency raids
The agency raids were to ascertain evidence of suspected ₹6,000 crore proceeds of financial crime allegedly committed by Mahadev app’s promoters Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal and Shubham Soni.
The ED picked up investigation from the FIR filed by the CBI to probe large-scale online gambling and online fraud. It had also carried out searches in March at the residence of former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel on charges that the Congress leader was also alleged beneficiary of the proceeds of crime.
