Adani Power Q3 Results: Net profit rise 7% due to increased demand new power plants


Decent power demand and higher operating capacity lifted Adani Power’s consolidated net profit 7 per cent in Q3 from year ago but revenues saw a modest 5.2 per cent growth on lower merchant tariffs.

The company sold 23.3 billion units in Q3, up 8 per cent on year, with demand picking up in December. Its newly acquired power plants of Dahanu, Moxie Power Generation and Korba Power contributed to the power despatches.

Increased demand

There was increased demand from merchants as well as in the short term market, it said. Merchant prices were soft during the quarter due to an increase in supply and the average clearing price on the Indian Energy Exchanges saw a 26 per cent annual fall in the quarter. The company said it expected merchant prices to firm up with the government expecting peak power demand to reach 270 GW in the summer months of 2025 from 250 GW last year.

Adani Power reported net profit of ₹2,940 crore in Q3 on revenue of ₹1,3671 crore. Operating profit rose 23.5 per cent to ₹6,185 crore.

The company said it was on track to meet its stated target of over 30 GW by 2030, as it progressing rapidly on its under-construction projects and successfully bidding for long term power purchase agreements.

During the quarter, it entered into a 25-year power supply agreement with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company.
