After Sri Lanka, Revolt Motors sets foot in Nepal

After entering Sri Lanka last year, Revolt Motors is now set to export its electric motorcycles to Nepal. The company has plans for three more countries in Africa, South-East Asia and West Asia within the next financial year, a top official at the company said.

The company also plans to export to Mexico at a later stage and set up its assembling plants for markets like Africa and Mexico, Anjali Rattan, Chairperson, RattanIndia Enterprises (promoter of Revolt Motors), told businessline.

“In 2024, Nepal recorded a sales of about 1.7 lakh units of two-wheelers and the electric vehicle penetration is currently less than 4 per cent. Scooters account to about 37 per cent of the total sales in the country and the Indian original equipment manufacturers’ (OEMs) exporters have the share of almost 45 per cent for scooters on the overall volumes. The Indian products are more preferred in Nepal than any other country,” she said.

The company will be exporting full product line-up including RV400, RV400 BRZ, RV1, RV1+ and RV BlazeX, backed by a comprehensive after-sales service network, she said.

Revolt has partnered with the MV Dugar Group and will open its flagship Revolt Hub in Kathmandu in April and over the next three-four months, it plans to open 15 showrooms across major cities, Rattan said.

“Nepal is a key strategic market, given its strong push for clean energy and growing demand for sustainable mobility. Its unique topography, where motorcycles are a preferred mode of transport, presents an exciting opportunity to introduce our smart, efficient electric motorcycles,” she noted.

She further said that the company plans for an annual volume of 500 units in Nepal, starting the first consignment this week.

On asked about a dedicated manufacturing facility for exports, Rattan said that the current plant at Manesar (Haryana) has enough capacity of around 1.80 lakh units per annum, so it will be sufficient right now because currently it is manufacturing around 35,000 units a year. In the domestic market, the company sold 760 units of its motorcycles in February, an yearly growth of 58 per cent as compared with 480 units in February last year.

But, going forward, it is also looking for potential new facilities in South Indian States of Tamil Nadu or Karnataka within next 18 months, she added.

Apart from Revolt, electric two-wheeler manufactures such as Ather, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor and Ultraviolet also export to the neighbouring countries.
