Amazon India is eyeing higher sign ups for its subscription programme Prime, which has been scaled up to three membership tiers. The e-commerce major, which is gearing up for Prime Day 2025 edition during July 12-14, is also focusing sharply on swifter deliveries.

Abhinav Aggarwal is Director, Head of Amazon Prime India told businessline, “Prime Day has three key pillars including new launches, great deals and blockbuster entertainment. At the same time, we are sharply focusing on making Prime membership more accessible to consumers to cater to the diverse Indian consumer base. 

“India is the only marketplace globally for Amazon, which has three distinct membership tiers including Prime Lite and Prime Shopping. This is enabling us to bring more consumers to the Prime family,” he said.

While the annual prime membership with full benefits is priced at ₹1,499, Prime Lite is priced at ₹799 offering full shopping benefits and limited Prime Video benefits, Prime Shopping Edition is priced at ₹399. 

“Our sign ups for the Prime membership continue to be very high even from tier-II and tier-III cities Infact Prime Day has been one of the key period when we see higher sign ups across regions ,” he added.

The company, which is investing about  ₹2,000 crore in bolstering its logistics, is sharply focusing on faster deliveries.

“We have nearly 10 lakh items available for customers for delivery on the same day across multiple categories. Another 40 lakh items will be available for delivery the next day, Aggarwal added.

“At the same time, the top 20,000 best selling items on Amazon will be available for delivery in four hours. This Prime Day, we’re launching 30-plus delivery stations pan India and many of them are in non-metro regions for speedier deliveries,” Aggarwal said.
