Arrow expands retail presence, plans for 40 more stores across India

International menswear brand Arrow is planning to add 40 stores across the country, Anand Aiyer, CEO of Arrow, told businessline.

The brand has launched a new store in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, marking its thirteenth outlet in the city.

“The company is looking for pockets of expansion and has a plan to launch around 40 or more stores across the country. The expansion is mainly centered around malls, Tier 1, and metro cities,” said Aiyer.

The brand, which was originally launched in New York, made its way into Indian markets only in 1993. Since then, they’ve expanded the types of apparel the store offers ranging from wrinkle-free shirts, sportswear, linen collection, smart casuals, and pure formal pieces.

When asked about the brand’s plans for expansion, Aiyer said, “We are trying to bring a lot more global trends. We are trying to bring a more younger sensibility to the brand.” With their collections like Arrow New York and Arrow Sport, they cater to younger consumers and bring modern elements into these categories.

Other than their retail expansion, the brand follows an omnichannel model with a presence on e-commerce platforms. “Our online share is also equally healthy around 14-15% of our mix comes from online,” Aiyer told businessline.

In terms of manufacturing, Arrow receives backward integration from its parent company Arvind Limited. The brand has a lot of partners who help in sourcing from the Indian subcontinent but also global sourcing of products that have to be imported from some specific categories like winter wear, jackets, and specific categories like technical fabrics which we will have to may not be able to source it fully from India.

“We have very strong sourcing happening on an Indian basis and also global sourcing as per the needs of the market,” Aiyer added. Only fabrics such as winter wear, jackets, or technical fabrics that cannot be fully sourced from India are imported.
