Ashok Leyland commissions new manufacturing facility in AP
Automotive manufacturer Ashok Leyland of the Hinduja Group has set up its plant in Mallavalli Model Industrial Park, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
The plant was formally inaugurated by Nara Lokesh, Minister for IT and Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday.
The plant, spread over 75 acres, will manufacture BS-VI category of buses and will provide employment to 600 in the first phase, while another 1,200 jobs will be created in the second phase of the unit, Lokesh said after inaugurating the plant.Â
Plant capacity
“The plant will have a capacity to make 4,800 buses per annum. It will be a new milestone not only for Ashok Leyland, but also for Andhra Pradesh,’‘ Lokesh said.
The plant would also take up body-building works for electric buses.
