Belgium-based Aliaxis’ Indian unit plans to invest Rs ₹400 crore in setting up Chennai, Hyderabad plants

Belgium-based Aliaxis’ Indian unit Ashirvad Pipes is planning to invest around ₹400 crore in setting up two greenfield manufacturing facilities in south India, one in Chennai another in Hyderabad, by FY27 to expand its manufacturing capacity.

Ashirvad, a major producer of PVC, UPVC, and CPVC pipes and fittings, currently has seven manufacturing plants in India, including three in Bengaluru.

“We will be setting up the Hyderabad plant in FY26, while the Chennai plant will come up in FY27. Total investment for the two new plants will be around ₹400 crore. These two new facilities will increase our production capacity from 3 lakh tonnes to 4 lakh tonnes per annum,” Partha Sarathi Basu, Managing Director, Ashirvad by Aliaxis, said on Monday.

Organised sector

In India, the pipes, fittings, and water tanks market is estimated at around ₹80,000 crore, of which around 60 per cent is organised. “In the organised sector, presently, we have a market share of 12 per cent. In south India we are very strong with around 50 per cent market share there. We are eyeing 18 per cent market share nationally by the FY27,” Basu said.

The company aims to grow its revenue to ₹9,000 crore by FY27 from ₹6,500 in FY24. “We are one of the leading producers of CPVC pipes and water tanks in India, with around half of our total revenue coming from the CPVC segment,” Basu said.

The company recently inked an MoU with the Jadavpur University for research in new molecule development.

Currently, India contributes to around 17 per cent to Aliaxis’ global revenue.
