Model, actress and philanthropist Dia Mirza took fans on a nostalgic trip as she shared pics from her pageant days. Dhe posted a series of pics on her Instagram and recalled her fangirl moment when she posed with Shah Rukh Khan.
Dia captioned the post, “Throwing it back to the beginning of a new millennium. 15th of January 2000. The Femina Miss India Contest was a truly grand spectacle! We had the most amazing women participating from across the country. Each of them has gone on to create their own unique story. We had the most iconic judges – Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Anjoli Ela Menon, Carolina Harera, Marcus Swarovski, Pritish Nandy, Mohammed Azharuddin and Waheeda Rehman . The beautiful Malaika Arora and Rahul Khanna hosted the event. A spectacular set was designed by Omung Kumar. Hemant Trivedi and Nayanika Chatterjee mentored us and choreographed the show. Bharat And Doris Godambe did our hair and make up.”
Lara Dutta reacted to the post and wrote, “And that day also cemented a friendship that’s lasted a quarter of a century. United in a sisterhood by a moment so iconic! My Di and Yanks, @diamirzaofficial @priyankachopra , two incredible forces of nature! What a ride we’ve had the privilege of sharing together!!!”
Sophie Choudhury also praised these throwback pics and wrote, “Love this Dee… Remember reading about all 3 of you while sitting in London.. thinking what stunning, incredible women!! And having no idea what a special part of my life you and a few others from that time would be”
One fan wrote, “This was probably the best year for the pageants who created history for India on the world stage. Sush and Aish were iconic in the year 1994 and you guys repeated and took it a step further and re-established the ever so meaning of being a natural beauty with brains at the turn of the millennium. The memory is still afresh. Nostalgia hitting hard! Congratulations once again. More glory and power to all of you!”
