Ergon Labs and Omega Seiki Forge ink partnership to integrate new technology in EVs
Ergon Labs, engaged in light electric vehicle (EV) powertrain technologies, has partnered with Omega Seiki Pvt. Ltd. (OSPL), a manufacturer of electric vehicles, to integrate Ergon’s Integrated Power Converter (IPC) technology into OSPL’s electric three-wheelers.
As part of the collaboration, OSPL has placed a ₹50 crore order for IPC units to power its upcoming L5 segment fleet.
The IPC combines an on-board charger and motor controller into a compact unit, enhancing vehicle performance and reducing system costs by 30%. It also improves vehicle reliability and charging convenience with features like 50% faster charging and extended peak torque operation. Ergon has completed over 50,000 km of rigorous on-road testing, with full certification expected next month, according to a statement.
The first commercial deployment of 2,000 IPC-powered units will begin across India in FY26, focusing on the rapidly expanding L5 Passenger segment. The partnership also includes the development of a high-performance L5 Cargo vehicle designed for a 500 kg payload, targeting markets such as Kerala and the North East.
Ashwin Ramanujam, CEO of Ergon Labs, stated that the partnership marks a milestone in their mission to revolutionize the light EV market with innovations in gradeability, charging reliability, and overall vehicle efficiency. Uday Narang, Founder and Chairman of OSPL, pointed out that his investment investment in Ergon reflects the commitment to innovation in their EVs. From my first conversation with Ashwin to seeing their technology in action, it’s clear Ergon is bringing innovative solutions to India’s EV market.
