Jubilant FoodWorks aims for 3000 Domino’s stores in three years

Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd aims to expand Domino’s footprint to 3,000 stores in the next three years with a strong focus on smaller towns especially new tier 3 regions. The leading food services company is also strongly focusing on scaling up the footprint of its fried chicken brand Popeyes.

As part of its strategy of digital transformation and strengthening the food-tech play, JFL has also rolled out Elate, India’s first Android-based POS (point of sale) and order taking system designed specifically for the foodservice industry.

Sameer Khetarpal, Managing Director & CEO of Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd said, “At the moment, we are focusing on Domino’s and Popeyes as these are our two growth brands. We will grow Domino’s footprint to 3,000 outlets in three years. We believe Popeyes will be the fastest restaurant brand to scale up to 100 stores. We will continue to add 30-50 stores annually of Popeyes. We are making sharper capital allocation choices for other brands till the time they have a profitable model…”

Currently, pizza chain Domino’s has 2,139 restaurants in India. Overall JFL group network has 3,260 stores across six markets: India, Turkey, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan and Georgia

Faster expansion

The company said that the launch of Elate is a significant step towards creating a seamless, integrated, and efficient food-tech ecosystem. “Technology is one of our key differentiators as a food services company. This innovation reinforces our commitment to improving the customer experience while optimising operational capabilities. It will also allow us to expand faster in newer cities and smaller towns seamlessly. It will also help us in growth as it will enable us to cross-sell and upsell to consumers. It will also help in managing the riders and rider network at a time when we are doubling down on 20-minute deliveries,” he stated. Elate has been developed by JFL’s 250-member product, UX, tech and data science team.

Responding to a query on inflationary pressures, Khetarpal said, “Inflation is a reality when it comes to commodities, labour and utilities costs. But we have not taken any price hikes in the past nine quarters and that has enabled us to gain market share. In fact we have been focusing on giving more value to the consumer through initiatives such as free delivery.”

Meanwhile, JFL is also rolling out guaranteed 20 minute delivery offering in the top seven cities.
