Cracking down on Ola Electric Mobility Ltd stores in Maharashtra, the State government has shut down 75 Ola outlets, including showrooms and service centres and has asked the regional transport office (RTO) to take action against 121 company showrooms and service centres.

As many as 109 show cause notices have been issued against showrooms and service centres that are operating without valid trade certificates, as per a letter was issued by the Joint Transport Commissioner (Maharashtra) on April 16.

The company’s operations in the State could be impacted severely by actions taken by RTOs.

“If the showroom or store cum service centre of the company M/s Ola Electric Mobility Limited in your area of operation is doing business without obtaining a trade certificate from the transport office, action should be taken to close that centre or showroom and the original trade certificate of that service centre or showroom should be cancelled and the action taken should be updated immediately,” stated the letter, a copy of which is with businessline.

The commissioner has also directed the RTOs to remove login IDs of showrooms doing business without trade certificates.

“The decision to close the login ID of the showrooms doing business without obtaining a trade certificate by the transport department should be taken within one day from our level as the registration authority under the Motor Vehicle Act, and the action taken report should be submitted to this office immediately,” added the letter.

Ola Electric has not yet issued a public statement responding to the Maharashtra government notice.
