Murugappa’s EV arm launches new e-SCV facility in Chennai

TI Clean Mobility Pvt Ltd, the electric vehicle arm of Murugappa Group’s Tube Investments of India, has inaugurated a dedicated manufacturing facility for electric small commercial vehicles (e-SCVs) at Ponneri, Chennai.

Spanning 5 lakh sq ft, the plant is operated by TIVOLT Electric Vehicles Private Ltd, a subsidiary of TI Clean Mobility. It has an annual production capacity of 50,000 e-SCVs to meet the rising demand in the Small and Light Commercial Vehicle (SCV/LCV) segments.

The facility was inaugurated by Arun Murugappan, Executive Chairman of Tube Investments of India Ltd (TII), along with Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of TI Clean Mobility, and Saju Nair, CEO of Tivolt Electric Vehicles.

Eviator e-SCV

The plant will manufacture the company’s e-SCV, Eviator, which boasts a certified range of 245 km (with a real-world range of 170 km), an 80 kW power output, and 300 Nm torque, making it the most powerful in its segment. It also offers an extended warranty of up to 7 years or 2.5 lakh km.
