NSE/BSE, Top Gainers & Top Losers Today 19 May 2025: PowerGrid, Eternal, Infosys in focus


Benchmark indices extended losses for a second consecutive session on Monday, weighed down by IT and oil & gas stocks. PowerGrid Corporation, Bajaj Finance, NTPC, SBI, and HDFC Bank emerged as top gainers, while Eternal Energy, Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra, and Reliance Industries led the losers.

The BSE Sensex declined 271.17 points or 0.33 per cent to settle at 82,059.42. The NSE Nifty 50 slipped 74.35 points or 0.30 per cent to close at 24,945.45, breaching the psychological 25,000 mark. The broader market, however, remained resilient with positive breadth—2,531 stocks advanced versus 1,565 declining on the BSE.

Top Gainers

PowerGrid was the top performer, rising 1.27 per cent to ₹304.10.

Bajaj Finance gained 0.95 per cent to ₹9,254.40, followed by NTPC, which advanced 0.58 per cent to ₹345.15.

SBI rose 0.39 per cent to ₹794.90, and HDFC Bank added 0.26 per cent to ₹1,938.70.

Top Losers

Eternal Energy was the worst hit, dropping 3.15 per cent to ₹238.00.

Infosys fell 1.92 per cent to ₹1,559.15, TCS slipped 1.23 per cent to ₹3,519.20, and Tech Mahindra declined 1.19 per cent to ₹1,597.00.

Reliance Industries closed 1.03 per cent lower at ₹1,441.65.

Global cues also weighed on sentiment after Moody’s downgraded the US sovereign credit outlook, adding to investor caution. “The Nifty and Bank Nifty decoupled during the session, with selling pressure seen in IT and energy heavyweights,” said Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities.
