Share prices of Nestle India Ltd, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL), Titan Company Ltd, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, and UltraTech Cement Ltd emerged as the top gainers on Wednesday.

Among the biggest laggards were shares of Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T), State Bank of India (SBI), Tech Mahindra Ltd, Tata Steel Ltd, and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.

The BSE Sensex ended 379.93 points or 0.51 per cent lower at 73,847.15, while the NSE Nifty dropped 136.70 points or 0.61 per cent to settle at 22,399.15.

The equity markets opened gap-down after US President Donald Trump confirmed a steep 104 per cent tariff on Chinese goods, effective today, sparking panic across global bourses and dragging down domestic indices for the second time this week.
