Red Rhino launches new commercial brewery in Kolar

Red Rhino, a leading brewery in India’s craft beer segment, has announced the opening of its new commercial brewery in Malur in Karnataka’s Kolar district to expand into kegging operations. With this expansion, Red Rhino aims to bridge the gap between its brewery and large-scale beer distribution, ensuring more consumers can enjoy its craft beer beyond its flagship locations.

The Malur facility will initially distribute Red Rhino’s popular offerings, including its Signature Lager and Hefeweizen, alongside new and seasonal drops.

“Our new facility is built to set industry benchmarks,” said Ashwin Nawani, Head of Business Strategy. “With a cutting-edge cold chain and logistics infrastructure, we ensure that every pint maintains its optimal temperature and quality from brewing to final delivery. This investment is all about precision, efficiency, and elevating the craft beer experience across Bangalore and beyond.”

Starting this April, Red Rhino’s beers will be available on tap at multiple high-profile venues in the city. Currently serving Bangalore and Hyderabad, Red Rhino is positioned for nationwide expansion, with plans to introduce its craft beer portfolio to urban centres across India.

Beyond production, the facility is expected to generate employment opportunities in brewing, logistics, and sales. By collaborating with local businesses and restaurants in Bangalore, Red Rhino aims to cultivate a comprehensive craft beer ecosystem. The new facility boasts dedicated kegging lines, larger fermentation tanks, and automated quality control systems.

Master Brewer, Dan Satterthwaite added, “Our infrastructure rivals international brewing facilities. We’ve integrated advanced fermentation technologies with sophisticated logistics to ensure each beer batch preserves its unique flavour profile and exceptional quality throughout distribution.”

India’s craft beer industry has been experiencing robust growth, with a 22 per cent annual increase since 2022. Premium craft beer, in particular, is seeing an even higher growth rate of 27 per cent CAGR, reflecting evolving consumer preferences and a growing appreciation for sophisticated brewing techniques. The market projections indicate that the craft beer segment in India is set to grow at the rate (CAGR) in the next eight years.

At the heart of this expansion is BEVERA, Red Rhino’s new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that automates the entire brewing ecosystem—from order processing to final delivery. This technology integrates complex brewing operations into a seamless, intelligent platform that enhances efficiency and precision.

The company shared that this infrastructure was designed to optimise distribution, significantly reducing the time between brewing and consumption.
