Swiggy’s net loss widen to ₹799 cr, revenue up by 31%


Food delivery platform Swiggy’s net loss widened 39 per cent to ₹799 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2024. It reported a net loss of ₹574 crore in the year-ago period. The revenue from operations rose 31 per cent to ₹3,993 crore in Q3FY25 (₹3,049 crore).

“We delivered higher growth across all three of our primary businesses during Q3. The secular expansion in food delivery margins and cashflow generation is balanced by growth investments in quick commerce including darkstore expansion and marketing in the near term.” said Sriharsha Majety, MD & Group CEO, Swiggy.

Swiggy’s Gross Order Value (GOV) grew 38 per cent year on year to ₹12,165 crore. The platform’s average monthly transacting users (MTU) increased 25.3 per cent to reach 17.8 million; with nearly a third of all users utilising more than one service on the platform.

Food delivery business

The company’s core food delivery business, registering a topline of ₹1,636 crore, saw a marginal growth of 3.7 per cent from the previous quarter, while on a year-on-year basis, this growth was more than 23 per cent.

The firm saw its Dineout business reach breakeven for the month of December 2024. Since then, it has ramped up its going-out segment offerings with Swiggy Scenes.

Instamart

The company’s expansion in the quick commerce segment has taken a hit on the segment’s profitability. Swiggy Instamart, the quick commerce arm of Swiggy, added a total of 96 dark stores during the October-December period. The company added another 86 stores in January 2025 and MTU increased to 9 million, said the company in its press release.

Swiggy Instamart registered a GOV of ₹3,907 crore, an 88 per cent rise compared to the previous year (15.5 per cent Q-o-Q). Average order value increased by 14 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹534, said the company in its statement.

At the end of Q3FY25, Swiggy operated a total of 705 dark stores, while Blinkit had a larger network with 1,007 dark stores, according to regulatory filings.

Blinkit outperformed Swiggy in revenues too, recording ₹1,399 crore compared to Swiggy’s ₹577 crore during the same period.
