Eyeing a bigger share of the organised women’s handbag segment, Titan Co is looking to ramp up the retail presence of its brand IRTH in the key metros. The company aims to garner revenues of about ₹1,000 crore from the women’s handbag segment with brands IRTH and Fastrack.

Manish Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, Fragrances and Accessories Division at Titan told businessline, “In the next phase of retail expansion, we are looking to rope in franchises to expand the retail presence of brand IRTH. We expect the brand’s first franchise store to open in the next four months. Overall, we are envisioning to have 100 stores for the brand by FY28. Currently we have seven company owned stores.”

First phase

He added that the company expects to get to about 32 stores by the end of FY26. “Our key focus in the first phase of this retail expansion will be the top ten metros. We want to initially invest behind a sharp strategy in the top cities instead of spreading ourselves too thin,” he added.

The overall women’s handbag market is pegged at about ₹6,000 crore as per industry estimates in the country. However, it is fragmented, and the organised segment is estimated to be to the tune of ₹2,600-2,700 crore. Titan wants to garner a bigger share of this segment with its brand IRTH as well as the Fastrack’s handbags portfolio.

“Our aspiration to scale up our women’s handbag segment to about ₹1,000 crore by FY28. Of this, we expect ₹600 crore to be contributed by brand IRTH, while the balance will come from the Fastrack portfolio of handbags. We can already clearly see that we will achieve a ₹500 crore kind of a run rate by FY28. Of course, as we learn, execute and improve, we will continue to search for the path to get to ₹1,000 crore in terms of revenues by FY28,” Gupta explained.

Despite a subdued consumer sentiment, the company said it witnessed about 20 per cent growth in the perfumes segment led by brand SKIN in FY25, while the handbags business also witnessed strong growth. Gupta expects this growth momentum to continue in FY26 on the back of strategies including aggressive retail expansion.
