Va Tech WABAG (WABAG), a leading player in the water technology space, has secured two major industrial water contracts with a combined value of about ₹360 crore.

WABAG has been awarded a Design, Build, Operate (DBO) contract worth about ₹340 crore from GAIL (India) Ltd for its integrated petrochemical complex in Pata, Uttar Pradesh. The contract includes the design and construction of a 450 cum/hr Ultrafiltration (UF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO)-based Effluent Recycle Plant, an Evaporator-based Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Plant, and both a new Wastewater Treatment Plant and augmentation of an existing facility, the company said in a statement.

The Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) phase is scheduled for completion within 24 months, followed by six months of Operations & Maintenance (O&M). Projects and Development India Limited (PDIL) has been appointed as the Engineer-in-Charge for the project. The recovered water from this facility will be repurposed as Cooling Tower Make-Up water, reinforcing sustainable water management practices.

In addition, WABAG has secured a repeat O&M contract worth ₹20 crore from Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) for the Tertiary Treatment Reverse Osmosis (TTRO) Plant at IOCL’s Panipat Refinery in Haryana. The contract extends WABAG’s O&M responsibilities for another three years. Notably, WABAG originally designed, constructed, and commissioned this first-of-its-kind Industrial Water Recycle Plant in India’s Oil & Gas sector in 2006 and has been overseeing its operations since its inception.
