Vedanta Ltd has delivered record annual aluminium and zinc production in India. The company also delivered sizeable growth in saleable ore and pig iron under its iron ore division driven by various operational and technical factors.
Vedanta in an exchange filing said its annual aluminium production stood at a record 24.21 lakh tonne, up 2 per cent y-o-y. Annual alumina production jumped 9 per cent y-o-y to 19.75 lt, mainly on account of production from fresh expansion.
The company’s zinc unit in India recorded highest ever annual mined metal production of 10.95 lt and annual refined metal production of 10.52 lt, which was up 2 per cent y-o-y.
Similarly, Vedanta’s Zinc International unit also registered 52 per cent jump in mined metal production in the fourth quarter driven by higher production at its Gamsberg facility, better zinc grades, recoveries and higher throughput.
Vedanta is focusing on major capacity expansions across other units as well. Its Balco smelter expansion is in an advanced stage for commissioning in Q1 of FY’26. The company’s Zinc India unit plans for a 1.60 lt per annum roaster at Debari and a 5.10 lt per annum fertilizer plant, with the final commissioning targeted for Q4 in FY26. Similarly, Vedanta’s Zinc International unit’s phase-2 expansion project is targeting commissioning in FY’26.
