Volvo Group is preparing to lay off as many as 800 workers at three US sites in the coming months amid uncertainty over how President Donald Trump’s tariff policy will affect demand, Reuters reported.

The Swedish truckmaker has informed staff that it will cut 550 to 800 jobs at its Mack Trucks factory in Macungie, Pennsylvania, and two Volvo facilities in Dublin, Virginia, and Hagerstown, Maryland, the agency said on Friday, citing the company.

Volvo needs to align production with reduced demand for its vehicles, Reuters cited a spokesperson as saying. The Swedish truckmaker employs almost 20,000 people in North America, according to its website.

Trump’s tariffs are wreaking havoc on an industry facing increasing costs and supply chain upheaval.
