WABAG secures ₹3251 crore consortium order for Sewage Treatment Plant in Saudi Arabia
Va Tech WABAG Ltd (WABAG), a leading water technology company, has secured a major consortium order worth $371 million (approximately ₹3,251 crore) from Al Haer Environmental Services Company.
The contract involves the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of a 200 MLD Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP), along with connections to outfall delivery facilities.
The ISTP is being developed by a consortium comprising Miahona Company (lead), Marafiq, and N.V. Besix S.A. for its off-taker, the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC), which serves as the primary off-taker for water and wastewater projects in Saudi Arabia, according to a statement.
This ISTP is part of the Kingdom’s ‘Vision 2030’, which aims to provide reliable sewage treatment services.
The EPC consortium for this project includes WABAG and Mutlaq Al-Ghowairi Contracting Company (MGC). As the Technology Partner and leader of the EPC consortium, WABAG will be responsible for designing and constructing the 200 MLD Independent Sewage Treatment Plant. Meanwhile, MGC will handle the installation of transmission pipelines and the construction of reservoirs.
“This state-of-the-art technology order is a testament to our technologically superiority and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions worldwide. This order win marks another significant milestone for us in Saudi Arabia and reinforces our leadership position in the Middle East Region,” said Sivakumar V, Regional Head – Sales and Marketing, WABAG.
Earlier this year, WABAG secured an EP order for a 20 MLD Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant at Ras Tanura Refinery in Saudi Arabia, with Miahona Company as the project developer. WABAG’s strong track record, technical excellence, and decades of experience in the Middle East were key to winning this repeat order, further strengthening its regional portfolio, said a company statement.
