Quick commerce major Zepto has changed its parent company name from Kiranakart Technologies Private Ltd to Zepto Private Ltd, according to filings from Tofler.

The company has also received approval from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) for the name change.

This comes at a time when the company is preparing for its initial public offering (IPO). Recently, Zepto appointed Akhil Gupta, Vice-chairman of Bharti Enterprises, the parent company of Bharti Airtel, to its board as an independent director. The board includes founders Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, alongside Avra founder Anu Hariharan, and Nexus Venture Partners co-founder and Managing Director Suvir Sujan.

For the process of IPO, Zepto has also flipped its base back to India from Singapore, and has been on a fundraising spree. The company has raised as much as $1.35 billion in a span of five months.

The company is looking to get more domestic shareholders ahead of the IPO. It has secured $350 million from Motilal Oswal, Ranjan Pai’s Claypond Capital and is in talks to raise $300 million in a secondary round.

The company’s gross merchandise value (GMV) is now close to $4 billion, a 300 per cent year-on-year increase. The quick commerce space is heating up as new players like Flipkart Minutes enter the sector. Zepto compete with Zomato’s Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, Tata BigBasket and others in the space.
