Coffee Island marks its debut in India, to scale up outlets in top cities
International cafe chain, Coffee Island has made a strategic entry into India in partnership with Indian today announced its debut in India in partnership with Vita Nova. The Greece-based coffee chain aims to introduce Indian consumers to the European coffee culture.
In an emailed response, Konstantinos Konstantinopoulos, CEO, Coffee Island told businessline, “India’s coffee market is ripe for innovation and disruption with strong growth potential. Currently, the Indian café market is dominated by either local, unorganized players or international chains. This leaves a significant void for a premium and specialty coffee brand that can offer an authentic, European coffee culture. By launching Coffee Island in India, we aim to create a new culture of coffee appreciation, delivering exceptional blends, sustainable practices, and a café experience that resonates with the aspirations of the modern Indian consumer.”
Coffee Island’s first outlet has opened in Gurgaon, with plans to establish a presence in the key cities.
“India holds immense potential as a key market within our global growth strategy, and we strongly believe it will become one of our top-performing regions. With its burgeoning café culture and evolving consumer preferences, India is uniquely positioned to contribute significantly to our global revenue. Our initial investments are focused on establishing a robust presence in major cities, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad,” he added.
Vita Nova, the Indian partner, plans to open five outlets in Delhi-NCR region by March 2025.
Pratyush Kumar Sureka, CEO, Vita Nova said, “We are committed to establishing a robust presence in the Indian market. Our strategic roadmap includes launching 20 outlets by 2026 in key coffee loving cities such as Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.”
Coffee Island opened its doors in 1999, in Patras Greece with a coffee shop as its sole asset. Besides Greece, the cafe chain has a presence across various markets including Cyprus, UK, UAE, Canada, Switzerland, Egypt, Dubai, Hongkong and Romania. The brand is also looking at foraying in other South Asian markets.
