Contract manufacturer KASFAB tools bets on Doddaballapura plant for export-led growth
Contract manufacturer KASFAB Tools’s new facility in Doddaballapura will focus on exporting the equipment currently manufactured by the company, according to Manjunath Jyothinagara, Managing Director of KASFAB Tools Pvt Ltd.
The plant, which is set to open on January 27, has received an initial investment of ₹20 crore in its initial phase, with an additional ₹250 crore earmarked for subsequent expansion phases. The facility spanning 20,000 sq ft on the outskirts of Bengaluru, will have the capacity to produce between 200 and 500 piecesof equipment annually, depending on the complexity of the orders.
“The capacity varies for each customer based on the type of equipment they contract us to manufacture. On average, production can range from 200 to 500 units, accommodating equipment of varying complexities,” Jyothinagara explained.
Discussing the market potential, Jyothinagara noted that the global semiconductor market is valued at $25 billion, while the Indian semiconductor ecosystem is expected to reach ₹2,500 crore within the next 3 to 5 years.
The facility will initially employ 50 people, including PhDs, engineers and technicians. Additionally, local ecosystem vendors will need to add over 150 resources to support KASFAB’s global customer commitments during the initial phase. “Based on the first year’s progress, we are ready to scale operations tenfold, with investments exceeding ₹250 crore. This will create over 250 direct employment opportunities and generate an additional 1,200 indirect jobs,” Jyothinagara added.
Further, KASFAB Tools has achieved a localisation rate of 30–40 per cent and aims to collaborate with leading players such as Applied Materials, LAM Research, Tokyo Electron, Yield Engineering Systems, and similar companies.
