Germany-based Rehau, a global player in polymer-based solutions, is set to ramp up the manufacturing capacity of its subsidiary Red Star Polymers Pvt Ltd at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh.

The company on Saturday announced the acquisition of 1.05 acres of industrial land adjacent to the existing Red Star Polymers facility, marking the group’s next phase of manufacturing expansion in India. However, specific details regarding the investment amount and planned capacity increase were not disclosed

The land was secured through a 99-year lease agreement. The acquisition is aimed at enhancing the manufacturing capacity of Red Star Polymers, in which Rehau acquired a 51 per cent stake last year, according to a company statement.

Thomas Troeger, CEO of Rehau Interior Solutions, said the investment underscores the company’s confidence in India’s growth potential. “This expansion positions Rehau to meet growing demand,” he said.

Red Star Polymers, founded by S Karthikeyan, is a leading manufacturer of PVC edgeband tapes, operating out of its facility in Sri City. The company is reported to be serving over 3,000 customers, including OEMs and dealers across India.

Rehau has been operating in India since 1997 through its subsidiary, Rehau Polymers Pvt Ltd (Rehau India). The company runs its largest UPVC edgeband manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, and claims a 45 per cent market share in the organized OEM sector. Rehau India, which employs over 500 people, reported a revenue of about ₹400 crore in 2023.
