Swiggy claws back market share in Q4

Swiggy has managed to reclaim a percentage point in market share during the fourth quarter of FY25, chipping away at Zomato’s lead in the online food delivery space.

The Bengaluru-based company reported a gross order value (GOV) of ₹7,347 crore for the quarter, translating to a 43 per cent market share. Zomato, headquartered in Gurugram, remained ahead with a GOV of ₹9,778 crore and a 57 per cent share.

Swiggy also made gains on the profitability front. Its food delivery contribution margin rose to 7.8 per cent of GOV in Q4, up from 7.4 per cent in the preceding quarter and 6.7 per cent a year ago.

“Our Food delivery engine delivered best-ever results across innovation and execution, driving category-leading growth and rising profitability in lockstep,” said Swiggy CEO & MD Sriharsha Majety.

Despite operational gains, Swiggy posted a widening net loss of ₹1,081.18 crore in Q4FY25 — a 94 per cent jump over the ₹554.77 crore loss in the year-ago period. However, revenue from operations grew 45 per cent year-on-year to ₹4,410 crore, up from ₹3,046 crore in Q4FY24 and ₹3,993 crore in Q3FY25.

Meanwhile, rival Zomato reported a sharp 78 per cent year-on-year drop in profit after tax to ₹39 crore for the March quarter. For the full year, however, its net profit surged 50 per cent to ₹527 crore. The company also posted robust revenue growth, with Q4 revenue climbing 64 per cent YoY to ₹5,833 crore and annual revenue rising 67 per cent to ₹20,243 crore.
