Welspun Michigan engineers wins ₹79.29 cr Vadodara Drainage project
Welspun Michigan Engineers Limited (WMEL), a subsidiary of Welspun Enterprises Limited, has secured a significant infrastructure contract from the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) for rehabilitating an existing drainage line in West Zone, Vadodara, Gujarat.
The shares of Welspun Enterprises Limited were trading at ₹506.80 up by ₹5.70 or 1.14 per cent on the NSE today at 11.35 am.
The project, valued at ₹79.29 crore (excluding GST), involves rehabilitating a 1,800 mm diameter drainage line from Shrenik Park Circle to Akota-Dandiya Bazar Bridge Junction and extending to Atladara STP. The company is set to complete the project within 12 months, starting April 2, 2025, with monsoon period excluded.
The contract significantly boosts WMEL’s order book, which stood at ₹2,915.42 rore before this project. With the new order, the outstanding order book now rises to approximately ₹2,994.71 crore, comprising Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) segments.
Saurin Patel, Managing Director of WMEL, highlighted the strategic importance of the project, emphasising the use of trenchless technology to rejuvenate infrastructure while minimising societal disruptions and environmental impact. The project also marks the company’s entry into a new geographical market.
