Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting expects double-digit growth to continue

Anuj Dhir, Senior Vice-President and Business Head of the Commercial and Institutional Business at Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting, has said that the company would continue the growth trajectory. He said the company would have a “decent double-digit growth” next year.

“We are registering a double-digit growth in the last three years and expect this to continue this trend,” he told businessline.

eye on exports

While the business unit does not have plans to start an export subsidiary, he said it would continue to take up project-specific export orders in regions like Africa, the Middle East, and Malaysia.

Anuj was in the city to open MyWiproVerse Hyderabad, an IoT-powered experience centre that showcases the company’s lighting and seating solutions for organisations. Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting is part of the $2.5 billion revenue Wipro Enterprises.

“We are reimagining the modern workspaces with the right balance of technology design. You can see how our smart lighting and seating solutions create ecosystems that promote productivity, creativity and employee convenience,” he said.

“Considering people spend 8-10 hours sitting, the comfort of the chair and lighting are essential factors to make them comfortable. Lighting plays a significant role in creating the right mood and ambiance. The quality of lighting is important to avoid eye strain from overly bright conditions or uneven distribution of light,” he said. He claimed that the company has a range of lighting solutions that don’t cause ‘light pollution’.

“We offer features like automatic light activation based on room occupancy and natural daylight. Some lighting products can automatically adjust the light’s intensity mimicking the natural light outside,” he said.

“The body is tuned to the changes of natural light, which ranges from warm yellow in the morning to white during the day and warm yellow again in the evening. This kind of lighting can improve sleep cycles and thus productivity,” he said.

Ethernet Power

The company also has products that allows lighting systems to be powered and controlled through networking cables, eliminating the need for separate AC wiring. This system reduces the risk of fire because it uses low-voltage DC.

“It allows for software-based control of lighting, including dimming and sequencing. With PoE, the lighting can be controlled via software, and light settings can be pre-programmed to suit different moods and occasions,” he said.

The revenue for the lighting and seating business is around ₹1,100 crore, with the commercial and institutional part contributing about half of that.
